Student of Centre for Public Health, Panjab University conducts Anti-Dengue Drive in PU campus

Chandigarh, July 31, 2016: Student of Centre for Public Health, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh conducted Anti dengue drive in PU campus on Saturday. Dr Shalu, Dr Bidhi, Veena, Janvi, Mandeep Singh, Kriti , Karamjit Kaur, Sanjeev Dutta, Sunny, Radhika Rana, Sonica, Divya, Aparajita, Neha Sharma and Neha Khandelwal were part of Anti-Dengue Drive team.
As a part of drive, team of students conducted door to door survey to check and eliminate the breeding of dengue mosquitoes. Residential area, nursery and open area of university campus were visited. Team members checked and ensured cleaning of coolers, vases, pots, tyres and water containers in their presence. In this drive more than 800 houses were visited and 1200 coolers, 500 pots and 10 tires were checked and wherever stagnant water was observed, it was removed. Preventive measures were taken to control and avoid breeding for the mosquitoes. Efforts of the team were appreciated by the residents and full cooperation was rendered to the students.
PU Coordinator, Centre for Public Health, Dr Suman Mor emphasized on need of conducting such kind of drives to sensitize the community about public health issues and making them understanding their role and responsibilities for eliminating the breeding places for mosquitoes. She informed that two week back also, as part of social responsibility, students of Public Health carried out the Anti-dengue drive and eliminated the breeding places. In continuation to this, they have initiated this drive again for the well being of university residents.
