Ludhiana, April 26, 2024: With district administration making regular efforts to ensure maximum participation during Lok Sabha-elections-2024, the  Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) teams of Ludhiana East constituency organised a voter awareness program in Sector 32 market on Chandigarh road on Friday.

Students from BCM College of Education and DCM Presidency School performed Nukkad Natak and formed 'Human Chain' for spreading among the voters and urging them to exercise their right to vote on the polling day (June 1). Selfie points were also set-up as part of awareness activity. 

Similar awareness events were also held at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU); NM Jain senior Secondary School; Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School; NIghtingale College of Nursing, Narangwal among other educational institutes. Different competitions including debate, painting competitions etc were held as part of the awareness activities. 

Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) of Ludhiana East, Chetan Bunger said that working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney, a large number of voter awareness activities are being organised across the district under SVEEP program to encourage the voters.

The aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).

Urging all the eligible residents in the district to enrol themselves as voters, ARO Chetan Bunger further stated that the eligible first time voters can use 'Voter Helpline' mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters. Voter registration for Lok Sabha-2024 elections can be done till May 4, 2024.

Meanwhile, DEO Sakshi Sawhney said that the district administration is committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and the residents should cast their vote without any fear and without coming under anyone's influence. She further said that every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).
