SAXS workshop on “soft matter materials” organized
Chandigarh, October 23, 2019: The two day SAXS workshop on “Soft Matter Materials” organized jointly by the Department of SAIF/CIL Panjab University, Chandigarh and Anton Paar, Gurgaon (Mr Prasad Gosavi, Ms Navjot Saini and Ms Kanika Dhiman) concluded here today. Prof.S.K.Mehta, Director SAIF/ CIL, emphasized that such workshop will be very beneficial to young researchers for improving their publication skills. The primary objective is to impart sufficient knowledge on the principles and applications of SAXS to sensitize and stimulate the young minds of research scholars and faculties with an extensive hands-on training, practical exercises, data collection and interpretation along with troubleshooting in correspondence to various software analysis tools. The expertise discussed in-depth experimental and post-analysis aspects of state-of-the-art instrument installed at SAIF centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The second major part of workshop was addressed by Dr Ashish Ganguly, Principle scientist, IMTECH, who is a known BIOSAXS expert. He enlightened the participants with other independent SAXS data handling tools with an aim to spread the awareness and its utility along with tips on publishing data with higher reproducible results for students and researchers in a better way in peer reviewed journals. The workshop ended with valedictory speech and blessings by Director SAIF/ CIL, Prof. S. K. Mehta, followed by distribution of certificates. The participants were given certificates at the end of the workshop.
