Ludhiana, April 8, 2016: Providing world class road infrastructure to its residents, the Punjab government would be four-laning the six-kilometer long stretch of Pakhowal Road- starting from Phullanwal Chowk till Lalton village in next four months time. Costing around Rs 22 crore, the work on this project has already started. Gill constituency MLA Mr Darshan Singh Shivalik informed that this project would benefit the area residents in a big way as a sewer line would also be laid on this stretch.
The work on this project started in the presence of MLA Mr Darshan Singh Shivalik yesterday and is expected to complete in four months time.
While giving further details, Mr Shivalik said that out of the total cost, around Rs 7 crore would be spent on laying of sewer line, around Rs 14 crore on the four-laning of Pakhowal Road (starting from Phullanwal Chowk till Lalton village) and around Rs 63 lakh on the installation of streetlights and on plantation. He said that this particular stretch would be one of its kind in the state and would be completed well on time and without any delay.
MLA Mr Shivalik said that the Punjab government is committed for providing world class road infrastructure to its residents. He said that it was due to the development oriented policies of the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party led Punjab government that they formed government for the second consecutive time in 2012. He said that the government is still focused on carrying overall development of both rural and urban areas of the city and that is why, an amount of Rs 22 crore is being spent on a six-kilometer long stretch of Pakhowal Road alone.
He said that the sewer line would also benefit a large number of area residents as earlier, the area did not have proper sewer line. He informed that the road would be 23-feet wide from each side, would have a centre verge and footpaths on both sides. The work on this project would continue 24X7.
