Chandigarh, April 26, 2024: The Centre for Social Work Panjab University organised "TARANG: Khushiyon ke Sang," an exhibition showcasing the products made by the students, local artisans, self help groups and various other voluntary organisations, in regard with the 'vocal for local' initiative informed Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson of the Centre for Social Work Panjab University.

Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India and former Member of Parliament was the Chief Guest.  Prof. Anju Suri, Director, UGC- HRD Centre was the Guest of Honour. Various faculty members alongwith  chairpersons, directors, and research scholars graced the occasion. The exhibition aimed to amplify the efforts of NGOs and SHGs working towards the upliftment of marginalised communities, providing them with a platform to showcase their talent and hard work.

Featuring Non-Government Organisations, Self Help Groups from the tricity and different states, as well as departments of Panjab University, the event boasted a total of 42 stalls. Visitors came out in support of the noble cause, contributing to a significantly to the best of their capacity. The positive response from attendees reflected the appreciation for the artisans' work.

A diverse array of products including cloth bags, candles, jewellery, homemade pickles,  bakery items, and food stalls were showcased at the exhibition. Additionally, free health camps and organisations like Red Cross raised awareness about issues like substance abuse, while Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO) created awareness for animal welfare and tried to inculcate a sense of responsibility among the people along with encouraging people to register for the membership.

The initiative, "TARANG Khushiyon ke Sang," not only raised awareness but also fostered a sense of empowerment among the masses, highlighting the various endeavours of NGOs. The event served as a platform for collaboration and support for communities, reflecting the spirit of unity and compassion said Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work. Tarang retained an aura of positivity brimming with a sense of empowerment, enthusiasm, passion, gratitude, appreciation and encouragement.

Enactus SSBUICET team of Panjab University enthusiastically participated in the exhibition “Tarang- Khushiyon Ke Sang”, organized by Centre for Social Work, at the Student Centre, providing a distinct platform to local artisans, non-governmental organizations and self-help groups, conveyed Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor, Enactus Panjab University and State Vice president of Corporate Sustainability Council, Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Chandigarh.
