Intellectual property rights (IPR) play an important role in promoting innovation and creativity. Intellectual property rights involve not only legal but also social and commercial issues. Vice Chancellor of BPSMV, Prof. Sudesh said this today as the chief guest, while inaugurating the national seminar organized at MDU, Rohtak on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day.

Rohtak, April 26, 2024: Intellectual property rights (IPR) play an important role in promoting innovation and creativity. Intellectual property rights involve not only legal but also social and commercial issues. Vice Chancellor of BPSMV, Prof. Sudesh said this today as the chief guest, while inaugurating the national seminar organized at MDU, Rohtak on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day.

VC Prof. Sudesh said that in this digital era we all should be aware of IPR. She also emphasized the need for social awareness about this. Prof. Sudesh said that there are immense career possibilities in this field. She congratulated the organizers for organizing this national seminar.

This national seminar, sponsored by the Haryana State Council for Science Innovation and Technology, was organized by the Center for IPR Studies of MDU in collaboration with the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In this national seminar organized at FDC Conference Hall, the speakers discussed intellectual property in detail and told the participants about copyright, trademark, GI tag, and patent.

Director of Center for IPR Studies and convener of this national seminar, Prof. Harish Dureja gave information about the educational and research activities of the Center for IPR Studies. He said that the main objective of this national seminar is to increase IPR awareness. Presiding over the national seminar, Dean, R&D Prof. Arun Nanda said that intellectual property is related to the inventions and artistic work of the human mind. He informed about the importance of intellectual property rights in the present times. Organizing Secretary Dr. Rakesh Kumar Marwah gave the welcome address and highlighted this year's theme - IP & SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity.

Three technical sessions and poster presentations were organized in this national seminar. Dr. Rahul Taneja, Scientist from Patent Information Centre, HSCSIT, DST, Haryana, Dr. Ashwini Siwal from Delhi University and Dr. Sandeep Yadav, Examiner of Patents and Designs, Patent Office, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, participated as speakers in the technical sessions and delivered special lectures. Speakers gave detailed information about various aspects of Intellectual Property Rights. Professor of Pharmacy Department, Dr. Saloni Kakkar conducted the stage. Seminar co-convenor Dr. Rajeev Kumar Kapoor expressed thanks. HODs, Faculty members, research scholars and students were present on the occasion.
