Chandigarh, August 1, 2016: Panjab University (PU) Board of Finance (BoF) today approved the revised non-plan budget of Rs. 502.11 crore for the year 2016-17 fiscal year.
The revised budget estimate has envisaged expenditure of Rs. 502.11 crore and income of Rs. 249.51 crore. The revised budget would now be considered by the PU Syndicate and Senate. Earlier, the non-plan budget estimate had envisaged expenditure of Rs. 517.33 crore and income of Rs. 210.61 crore for the year 2016-17.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover presided over the BoF meeting. The meeting was attended by the Registrar Col. G.S. Chadha (Retd.), Dean University Instructions Prof Dinesh Gupta, UT IAS Officer Mr. Jitender Yadav, MHRD representative and Joint Secretary Finance Dr. Jitendra Kumar Tripathi, Finance & Development Officer Mr. Vikram Nayyar, Punjab Government, Syndicate and Senate representatives.
PU Board of Finance approved enhancement in the amount of subsidy for youth/heritage festivals. The budget for inter zonal youth festival has been increased from Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh and zonal youth festival from Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 1.8 lakh. Similarly, the budget for zonal heritage festival has been increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 80,000 and inter-zonal heritage festival from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakh. The facilities for various eight prestigious chairs were also approved in the meeting.
The minutes of budget estimate committee were also approved as per Rs. 81.67 lakh have been provided for construction/extension of third floor in existing girls hostel at Regional Centre Ludhiana; Rs. 33 lakh have been provided for installation of bio-gas plant at Boys Hostel No. 3 PU Campus; Rs. 20 lakh have been provided for Barbed wire on the compound wall from Gate No. 1 to Pharmacy Department in PU Campus; Rs. 23 lakh for construction of for toilets/washrooms fro transgender at various location in Sector 14 PU Campus; Rs. 25 lakh have been provided for up-gradation of lease line connectivity from 20 Mbps to 100 Mbps at PUSSGRC, Hoshairpur; Rs. 14 lakh have been provided for IT infrastructure at AC Joshi Library and 338.86 lakh have been provided for completion of construction of new houses in PU South Campus.
