Tree plantation-cum-awareness drive at Panjab University Campus

Panjab University (PU) today organised a tree plantation-cum-awareness drive at PU campus. The campaign was carried out under the leadership of PU NSS Programme Co- cordinator, NSS Prof. Navdeep Sharma.
An eminent environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He planted medicinal trees along with the NSS Programme officers,
volunteers and students near the NSS office in the University Campus.
After the tree plantation Baba Seechewal interacted with the NSS, PEFA volunteers, students and faculty members in the seminar hall of Emerging areas building, near students’ centre. He addressed the audience and shared the worked done by him and his team. He stressed on channelizing the energy of the students in a positive direction. He asked youngsters to come forward and join the mission of making the whole earth clean and green. The students from various departments asked very relevant and important questions regarding environment. He appreciated the efforts made by PU and PEFA in taking-up such important issues, which are important for everybody.
Programme Co-ordinator Prof Navdeep Sharma also appealed the volunteers to follow the foot-steps of such an eminent personality and serve the society. NSS Programme officers namely Jessu Jaskarwan Singh, Parveen Kumar, Vijay Lakshmi, Pawan, Nirmal and Gaurav Gaur were present on the occasion.
On the occasion Jessu Jaskawarn Singh, Baldev Singh and Paramvir Singh also shared their ideas and experiences with the volunteers. The Question-answer session was co- ordinated by Gaurav Gaur.
