We have suggested a separate education policy

Dharamshala, July 27, 2019: The last congress-led government has opened most of the educational institutions in Himachal Pradesh without creating infrastructure and placement of the staff. On 21st October, 2017, just before the state assembly elections then CM Virbhadra Singh, who was holding the education portfolio too, opened 21 colleges in the state in a single stroke.

This was stated by Suresh Bhardwaj, Education Minister, Himachal Pradesh in a press conference in Dharamshala on Saturday.

He added, “Our government has made 16 of these new colleges functional, by providing them all the necessary infrastructure and staff. But 5 such colleges could not be carried on due to non-availability of students.”

Bhardwaj further said that the previous Congress government in the state filled only 6000 posts in education department during 2013-17 period, whereas our government has filled 5500 post in just 18 months and also recruited 623 assistant professors for the colleges.

He said that education ministry has organised its second seminar in Dharamshala today on the proposed second education policy of the centre, the 1 st such seminar was conducted in Shimla earlier.

Minister said that if we get more time for submission of our proposals for national education policy, some more seminars shall be organised in Mandi and Hamirpur too.

Bhardwaj said, “Himachal education board has become the number 1 board in the country to fix CCTV camera’s in all the affiliated schools, to curve copying in the examinations. In second phase these cameras will be given strength to be viewed and heard live in board’s office.”

Minister said, “We have suggested a separate education policy for all Himalayan states of India, which suits their topographical conditions.” He said that for this, a meeting of the educationalists of the North east States, Uttarakhand, Himachal and J&K shall also be organised.

He added the pre-primary classes have been started in 3391 school till 31st march this year and 350 more schools have been attached further till date. He said we are planning to bring Anganwari’s in the school complexes, where there the pre nursery classes are being run to give education from 1st step to the primary level in the single cluster complex.

Minister said that the teachers shall be trained 50 hours per year to keep them up-to-date with the present education scenario, so that quality education could be given to the children.

“We have adopted the suggestion in principle, to retire school teachers only after the academic session, and will appoint teachers too in the same way. This will also be applicable to promotions and will be implemented soon. By this act the study of the children will not suffer”, said Minister.
