WCK 2012: Indian women Kabaddi brigade to now roar in semis

Fazlika/Chandigarh, December 10, 2012:   In the presence of tons of people at MR Government College Stadium of Fazilka three league matches were played on Sunday.

Indian women squad got a thumping entry into the semis by decisively defeating Canada. 

In men category, after a close fight, Canada managed to out smarten Norway whereas in another women match Malaysia defeated England.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today formally inaugurated the matches by having introduction with the players. Other dignitaries who were accompanying Badal included Surjit Kumar Jyani, Sikander Singh Maluka (both Cabinet Ministers), Former Canadian MP Rubby Dhalla and Sher Singh Ghubaia, MP.

One of the interesting moments of the day was when Indian women squad got semi final berth by crushing Canada with the margin of 62-16 points. Raiders of Indian team Meena and Kulwinder Kaur got 8 points each whereas stopper Jatinder Kaur, Anu Rani and Mandeep kaur bagged 7, 6 and 6 points respectively.

In another match in women section Malaysia out shined England with the margin of 38-29 points. At the end of 1st half Malaysia team was leading with the difference 21-13 points. It was closed fight which finally ended up in Malaysia’s victory. Malaysia’s raider Manpreet Kaur and Paramjit Kaur scored 10 and 4 points whereas stopper Mandeep Kaur and Rekha got 13 and 5 points respectively.

In men category Canada and Norway was up against each other. Canada embraced the victory with the margin of 46-36 point difference. At the end f 1st half Canadian team was leading with 25-15. In the second half both teams restrict each other for getting any lead and scored equal 21-21 points. Canada got victory with 46-36 points. Raiders of Canada Laddi Parsrampur, Terry Purewal and Kuljeet bagged 12, 12 and 7 points whereas its stopper Hardeep scored 4 points.
