UIPS, PU celebrates Pharmacists Day

Chandigarh, September 25, 2019: The faculty and students of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) celebrated World Pharmacists Day today with the theme “Safe and effective medicines for all” under the aegis of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Punjab Branch and UGC Networking Resource Centre (UGC-NRC).
The program started with an introductory note by Professor Kanwaljit Chopra, Chairperson, UIPS.
Professor O P Katare, President, IPA Punjab Branch highlighted on this year’s theme and its importance in society.
A popular talk on "Drug Misuse among youth: Impact and life skills for prevention" was delivered by Dr Bhupinderjit Kaur Waraich (Simmi Waraich), Sr Consultant Psychiatrist, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, Punjab, where she emphasized on how these addictive drugs hamper the brain function and highlighted importance of adopting prevention strategies so as not fall into this black hole.
