SLIET team “Green Rangers” outperforms 70 teams including IITs to bag the Overall Winner Award in Efficycle 2018
The 9th season of "Efficycle 2018" (Dynamic Resilience Season), a student competition by Society Of Automotive Engineers Northern India section (SAE-NIS) which tasks engineering students all over India to design and build human-powered vehicle namely “EFFICYCLE”, was recently hosted at LPU, Jalandhar. The Sant Longowal Institute of Engg. & Technology (SLIET), Longowal team “Green Rangers 2018” under the guidance of Dr Shankar Singh as Faculty Advisor, conceptualized a green and innovative project which required designing and later fabricating a three wheeled hybrid human powered vehicle, which has the capacity to act as a good viable option for local transportation. Consequently, the SLIET team “Green Rangers 2018” (ten team members) and a team facilitator Iqbal Singh (a Student Member and Ex-captain, team “Green rangers 2017”) participated in Efficycle 2018 held at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar from 09th-13th October 2018. The SLIET team outperformed the 70 teams including IITs, and were adjudged the Overall Winner of Efficycle 2018 and got a cash award of ?1 Lakh. The team also won the category for the Durability Winner (prize money - ?30,000); Cost Award (prize money - ?20,000) and Drive Excellence Award (Prize Money- ?10,000). The Captain and Vice-Captain of the team “Green Rangers 2018” were Abhijeet Singh and Umer Jameel, respectively. The Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice and excellent team work. The team under the dynamic guidance of Prof. Shankar Singh has also been Over All Winner in Efficycle 2015, at LPU, Jalandhar.
