SEKHON: Farmers should give importance to joint farming system by forming societies

Ferozepur, March 26, 2013: The farmers should adopt crop diversification and come out of the wheat and paddy crops and adopt new techniques of sowing as per advice of the scientists besides giving importance to sowing to profitable crops so that the farmers could prosper by breaking the stagnation in the agriculture profession.

These views were expressed by Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Irrigation Minister to  the gathering after inaugurating the one-day District Level Farmers Training Camp to create awareness about new techniques and machinery for the Rabi crops.

Sekhon appealed to the farmers that they should form cooperative societies and purchase agriculture machinery and give importance to the joint farming.

On this occasion, Sekhon also had a round on the exhibitions put up by the various departments and released the calendar of ATMA scheme besides a book on crop diversification. 

In addition, he also handed over a cheque of Rs.20,000 each and memento to four Self Help Groups for doing the commendable job.  Gurmukh Singh a progressive farmer of the area was  also presented a cheque of Rs.10,000 and citation.

The officers of the department of agriculture, fisheries besides a good number of farmers of the areas were present at the camp.
