Ludhiana, September 22, 2016: Senior Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leader, Brigadier Jagdish Gagneja (Retd.) had to surrender before the circumstances as he breathed his last this morning Hero DMC Heart Institute.
Enquiries revealed that his condition had gone deteriorated on Wednesday night and finally, he died on Thursday morning.
It was a long battle of 45 days for life. But, he lost in this battle and died.
It may be recalled here that he was brought to the local hospital from Jalandhar on August 7. He was shot at by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants on August 6 in Jalandhar following which he had sustained serious injuries.
Further enquiries revealed that the postmortem of the deceased would be conducted at DMCH, Ludhiana instead of civil hospital due to security reasons.
The cremation of the deceased RSS leader is likely to be held in Jalandhar this evening.
Many people from different walks of life are arriving at the local hospital to pay their last respect to the deceased leader.
It is mentioned here that the case has already been sent to CBI for thorough investigation. Punjab police had also announced job and Rs 10-lakh reward to anybody giving information about the assailants in this case.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and former Punjab Minister, Manoranjan Kalia has expressed grief and deep shock over the sad demise of Ganeja.
In a statement issued in Jalandhar today Kalia said Gagneja had laid down his life for peace, unity and integrity of the country. “His death has caused a void in social, political and religious circles”, he remarked. He further said that Gagneja’s death was a personal loss to him. “May God grant courage to the family of the bereaved to bear the irreparable loss”, he prayed.

JAGMEET BRAR CONDOLES GAGNEJA’S DEATH
Chandigarh/Jalandhar: Jagmeet Singh Brar condoled the death of senior RSS functionary Brig (Retd) Jagdish Gagneja in Ludhiana earlier today.

Describing Gagneja as an outstanding human being with high moral values he said “Gagneja Ji was a good friend to me and we often spoke of the need to revive Punjabiat and the original values of Punjabi society, after a distinguished career in the armed forces he had dedicated himself to social causes and was a true patriot, his absence will be felt in Punjab in the times to come and this loss is irreparable”

Brar also lashed out at the Badal government and said “There is a total collapse of law & order, criminals move freely while law abiding citizens live in fear of gang wars and shootouts – these shameless Badals don’t care they have 1000+ police for their security and still ask for more security”

In a sharp attack on the government he drew comparisons with previous incidents of high profile shootings and said “This government is solely responsible for every case from the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Saheb & Quran Sharif and murder of Mata Chand Kaur Ji to the attack on Sant Dhandrianwale and now while Gagneja Ji fought for his life in a hospital his killers still roam free because in all these cases they have clear political patronage and protection of the Badal Government who use these elements to stir up trouble to deflect real issues”

He said this reign of fear and crime perpetrated by the Badal led government will soon come to an end in 2017 and that all these cases will be fully investigated and not only the shooters but their masters and planners too will face justice when the new government takes charge.

Punjab Governor condoles Gagneja’s sad demise
CHANDIGARH, SEPTEMBER 22: Placing wreath on Brig. (Retd.) Jagdish Gagneja’s mortal remains today at DMC Hospital, Ludhiana to pay floural tributes to the departed soul, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shri V. P. Singh Badnore expressed profound grief over the sad and untimely demise of Brig. (Retd.) Jagdish Gagneja.
The Governor prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.

Jalandhar: National leader from Punjab Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Secretary All India Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha expressed his Condolence on the death of his mentor Late Brigadier Jagdish Gagneja. He feels India and Punjab in particular have lost a prominent leader , an outstanding personality and a proud swayam sewak Brig. Jagdish Gugneja's demise is a loss to all who believe in peace, truth and justice he was a fighter who fought wars and he fought for his life till the very end for this us Indians owes him a great debt of gratitude. Grewal demanded that CBI should continue with the inquiry which was being conducted on the matter and it should be time bound as well so that the nexus between the gangsters and politicians is unearthed and justice is brought to the culprits behind the death of Brigadier Jagneja.

Former BJP President appealed people to maintain peace & harmony
Chandigarh: Former State BJP chief Kamal Sharma has condoled the death for RSS top leader from Punjab and has appealed the people of the state to maintain communal harmony.
In a statement issued from Chandigarh, Sharma said that attack on Gagneja was a planned act of certain anti-India forces who are hell-bent to create communal tension in Punjab.
Appreciating Gagneja for his contribution in the development of society, Sharma said that his loss was surely a set back not only for the RSS family but to the state as well.
"Gagneja, who retired from Army in 2006 had fully devoted him to the service of the nation through RSS. His vision to upkeep all sections of the society and bring them in the mainstream, would be remembered by people of state" said Sharma.
He said his lifestyle was so simple that he had turned down the offer of personal security by Punjab Police citing that he never needed it.
