Ludhiana, October 26, 2016: Pink Day (Breast cancer awareness Day) was organised by Fortis Hospital Ludhiana. Hospital was decorated with pink balloons. The Programme was organised under the supervision of Mr. Vivan Singh Gill, Director, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana. Breast cancer Survivors Tambola group was launched during the event. 1min games were the special attraction of the event. T-shirt were also distributed to the patients.

Dr. Jagdev Singh Sekhon, Director Onco Department, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana said that Breast cancer awareness is an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment. Supporters hope that greater knowledge will lead to earlier detection of breast cancer, which is associated with higher long-term survival rates, and that money raised for breast cancer will produce a reliable, permanent cure,

Giving information Dr. Harish Matta, Head Onco surgery said, “Breast cancer culture, sometimes called pink ribbon culture, is the cultural outgrowth of breast cancer advocacy, the social movement that supports it, and the larger women's health movement.
The pink ribbon is the most prominent symbol of breast cancer awareness, and in many countries the month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE FOR BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS... It's never too late to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Everyone can benefit from a healthy lifestyle. Making healthy choices can be physically and mentally rewarding at any age.

A healthy lifestyle tips by Dr.Matta :

· Maintaining a healthy weight
· Eating a healthy diet
· Limiting alcohol
· Getting physical activity (exercise)
· Not smoking

Dr.Parveen Kaur, Senior Consultant, Onco Department, Fortis Hospital said, “For breast cancer survivors, some healthy behaviour may lower the risk of recurrence and improve survival. Others have not yet been shown to impact breast cancer survival, but are part of a lifestyle that may help protect against other cancers and diseases.”

Giving information regarding Importance of Exercise Dr.Som Gupta, Head Physiotherapy department said, Regular exercise is an important part of being as healthy as you can be. Exercise can reduce the risk of breast cancer coming back (recurrence) if you've been diagnosed, as well as reducing the risk of developing breast cancer if you’ve never been diagnosed.
