PAU students, relatives of Atharva Gupta meet Bikram Majithia

Ludhiana, September 18, 2016: Student Organisation of India (SOI) President Meetpal Singh Dugri arranged the meeting of an uncle of Atharva Gupta (DAV Public School, Pakholwal Road) and students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) who were sitting on protest with Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia at helipad in PAU.

After listening to the demands of PAU students, Majithia assured them that he will take up the matter with Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and the issue will be sort out shortly.

The agitating PAU students are demanding jobs on vacant posts in the state government departments. They had burnt the photocopies of their degrees and even did shoe polish as a mark of the protest.

In the case of Arthava Gupta, Bikram Majithia asked the senior officials to look into the matter so that the family should be provided with justice. SOI Zonal president Meetpal Singh Dugri demanded the arrest of accused and adding more relevant sections in the FIR. Atharva had fallen from the fifth floor of the school building premises under mysterious circumstances few days back and following the protests and the complaint, the police have registered the FIR against the school principal and some of the schoolteachers. The schoolboy who had sustained serious injuries in the incident, is still undergoing treatment at DMCH, Ludhiana.

Ravinderpal Singh Minku,Prabhjot Singh Dhaliwal and Sahibjot Singh Chawla were also present.
