Municipal Corporation Ludhiana gets first compactor to be installed near garbage dump of Dugri

Ludhiana, July 21, 2016: In order to overcome the foul smell and shabby look at the garbage dump the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana has got first compactor that would be installed near the garbage dump of Dugri. This is first pilot project in entire Punjab and if people liked the concept it would be implemented at all garbage dumps in the city.

The private garbage collecting company A to Z has got these compactors. Three compactors have been brought and all these three would be installed at one site. According to the representatives of A to Z the main aim to use these compactors is to solve the problem of smell near garbage dumps. These compactors are meant for the garbage collection from the rehdi pullers who throw the garbage at the dumps in open.

They would throw garbage in the bins attached to the compactors. It would then seal the garbage in the compactor. Garbage compactors and waste collection vehicles compress waste so that more of it can be stored in the same space.

The medical officer health Dr Charanjeet Uppal told that compactor would seal the garbage and it would not be visible to the passer by and along with this, it would not leave smell at the garbage site.

The MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori told that it is the first pilot project and on trial basis these compactors would be installed near dump of Dugri. He further claimed that they would get more compactors installed if this trial got successful.
