Ludhiana, April 6, 2016: In a first of its kind initiative, the Punjab government would be developing 200 villages of the state as "Smart Swachh Villages" and in Gill constituency, three villages namely Kila Raipur, Alamgir and Ladhowal has been proposed to be developed as "Smart Swachh Villages". For making this proposal successful, the district administration has already started making efforts in this regard and when it is approved, the villagers would get all basic as well as ultra modern facilities. Besides this, necessary directions have been issued to speed up the ongoing development works in the Gill constituency.
A meeting was organised for the review of ongoing development works of Gill constituency and this meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mr Ravi Bhagat. He informed that the Punjab government has decided to develop 200 villages as Smart Swachh Villages in the state and for Gill constituency, a proposal has been prepared for selecting three villages namely Kila Raipur, Alamgir and Ladhowal under this plan. These villages will have 100 potable drinking water, sewerage, wifi facility, Aanganwari, carpeted roads, sewa kendra, sports ground, dispensaries and other facilities.
During the meeting, MLA Mr Darshan Singh Shivalik and DC Mr Ravi Bhagat directed the officials that they should speed up the ongoing development works in Gill constituency. They said that unnecessary delay would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against such officials. The MLA also asked the DC that efforts should be made so that Hambran Town is granted the status of a sub tehsil because this town fulfils all the requirements needed in this regard. MLA Shivalik also said that he is already in talks with the CM and other senior officials for this purpose.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included SDM East Mr Paramjit Singh, Youth Akali Dal leader Harpreet Singh Shivalik, besides several others.
