Ludhiana, February 19, 2019: As the announcement for the Lok Sabha elections 2019 is nearing, the District Administration has started the preparations for the same. Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Ludhiana Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal chaired a meeting of Assistant Returning Officers (ARO’s) and Nodal Officers of all 14 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of district Ludhiana.

This meeting was attended by Chief Administrator GLADA Mr Parminder Singh Gill, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal, ADC (General) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu, ADC Khanna Mr Jaspal Singh, ADC Jagraon Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta and other senior officials of District Administration.

During the meeting, Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that on the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2019 have been started. He said that the announcement of Model Code of Conduct by the ECI is expected anytime now. He asked the officials to remain prepared for the elections and ensure all necessary arrangements are completed.

He directed the ARO’s to ensure complete deployment of Sector Officers and Block Level officers in district Ludhiana. Similarly, all information regarding the same should also be uploaded on the election portal. He also directed the ARO’s to conduct meetings with the election staff and personally visit all polling stations. He also asked them to prepare the sector maps in advance so that they can be used during election time. He asked them to complete all these arrangements by February 20, 2019 so that a joint meeting can be convened by the District Election Officer.

Mr Agrawal said that this time, at least 10 modal polling stations each would be established in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies and the concerned officials should identify the places where they are to be established. He also asked them that the remaining voter identification cards should be distributed on priority basis.

He said that he would personally supervise the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections. He said to ensure maximum participation of voters in the elections, the officials should lay special emphasis towards SVEEP activities.
