Ludhiana, June 24, 2019: Punjab Cooperation and Jails Minister Mr Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Monday said that Master Tara Singh was a great leader in the Sikh History who coined the slogan of ‘I may die but Panth should live long’. Addressing the gathering in state level function organized to observe the birth anniversary of Master Tara Singh in association with Punjabi Sahit Academy in Punjabi Bhawan, said that Master Tara Singh laid his entire life for the service of Panth. He said that Master Tara Singh was a honest and enlightened politician. Mr Randhawa said that Master Tara Singh had a long association with Ludhiana that’s why state government has selected this city to hold the state level function. The minister further announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for a book on the writings of Master Tara Singh and a big statue in Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar. He asked Ludhiana Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu to initiate the proceedings to name Jalandhar bypass flyover on the name of Master Tara Singh. Later speaking to reporters, he said that the inquiry report in the Nabha jail murder case will come out within two days and a strict action would be taken against the guilty. The minister said that with the murder of Mahinder Pal Singh Bittu, who was prime accused in Bargari sacrilege incident, the probe by Special Investigation Team may get affected. On being quizzed that some gangsters’ groups had been taking the responsibility of Bittu’s murder, the minister said that the groups are indulging in cheap credit war. Mr Randhawa said that Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is going to take over the reins of the security of three jails of the state for which even the central government has given its nod. He said that the state government has released Rs 24 crore for the revamping of security system in the jails besides green signal for the new recruitment. Meanwhile, MLA Mr Kuldeep Singh Vaid, Former GNDU vice-chancellor Dr SP Singh, Renowned historian Dr Prithipal Singh Kapoor, Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill former President Punjabi Sehat Academy and Bibi Jaspreet Kaur, the family member of Master Tara Singh detailed about the life, cultural contribution and incidents associated with his life. On the occasion, MLAs Mr Surinder Dabar, Mr Lakhbir Singh Lakha, Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, former minister Mr Malkit Singh Dakha, Milkfed MD Mr Kamaljeet Singh Sangha, Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, ADC Ms Neeru Katyal Gupta, SDM Mr Amarinder Singh Malhi, DCC President Mr Ashwani Sharma, Mr KK Bawa, Mr Amarjeet Singh Tikka, Mr Mohammad Gulab and others were present.
