Indo-Japan SPARC workshop held at Panjab University
Chandigarh, October 31, 2019: Department of Chemistry, Panjab University organized an Indo-Japan SPARC scientific workshop on the theme of Peptide and Nanotechnological Approaches for Novel Theranostics, here today. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof.Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University and Prof.Raghuram Rao, Director, NIPER was the Guest of honour on the occasion. The participants were exposed to advancements/demonstrations regarding peptide and nanotechnology based approaches for generation of novel theranostics. The speakers were several renowned Scientists from Japan and India. The SPARC project would be accomplished under the supervision of Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma, the Indian PI from Panjab University, Prof. Rahul Jain, Indian Co-PI from NIPER, Mohali along with Prof. Hironobu Hojo, International PI from Osaka University, Japan and Prof. Toshifumi Takao, International Co-PI from Osaka University, Japan. The project includes the visits and long-term stay of top international faculty / researchers in Indian institutions to pursue teaching and research. It also includes visits by Indian students for training and experimentation in premier laboratories. This workshop will be followed by the SPARC International Course on Peptide and Protein Chemistry to be taken by Japanese collaborator in Department of Chemistry from November 4 to 7, 2019. This workshop is a part of Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. This SPARC project is a collaborative effort between Panjab University and NIPER, Mohali from India and Osaka University, Japan.
