Architects shall contribute maximum in upcoming housing projects all over India: Ar.Sanjay Goel
Ludhiana, October 7, 2019: World Architecture Day is a day to show appreciation for the work of Architects and to celebrate some of the great global architectural works. The Theme for 2019 is “Architecture… housing for all”, which is very important in India. It will focus on how architects can contribute to the realization of affordable housing for all. The day is traditionally celebrated globally on the first Monday of October. World Architecture Day was celebrated by many architects especially young ones from Ludhiana city under the banner of Indian Institute of Architects, Ludhiana Center (IIALC). Ar.Sanjay Goel, Chairman- IIA Punjab Chapter and Director of Ludhiana Smart City Limited explained that Architects shall contribute maximum in upcoming housing projects all over India as per initiatives of Union Government. Few goals include promoting good architecture; remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat. Celebrations were attended by office bearers of IIA Ludhiana Center and Executive Members. Excellent ideas were presented by Architects Yogesh Singla, Niranjan Kumar, Rajan Tangri, Harinder Boparai, Balbir Bagga, Bimaldeep Singh, Arun Sharma, Sheenam Dhami, Aakriti Sharma, Simran Gulati and Ramneek Gharial. Shelter is the basic human requirement. Almost 15% of the world’s population lacks permanent shelter. Even after seven decades of independence, the country is still struggling with the growing shelter problem, especially for the poor. To curb this, we Architects have to put efforts to finding ways in making the cities safer and habitable for the less fortunate. This can be done through innovative policies and new design solutions. Our designs have an essential role in enhancing the quality of life for everyone. “Architecture—housing for all” is not just a tagline; it is a duty, a demand, and a commitment, said speakers on the occasion.
