Many middle-class families turning crorepatis overnight

Chandigarh, October 21, 2019: Punjab State Lotteries Department’s bumper schemes have proved a magic wand for many middle-class families, turning them crorepatis overnight. In this year, Punjab Lotteries Department’s Bumpers have changed the life of 10 persons, who had not even thought in their wildest dreams to become a crorepati in their life.

An official spokesperson of the Lotteries Department said that Punjab State Lotteries Department has catapulted the lives of 10 families with giving away of Rs.15.50 crore prizes in this year so far.

Giving information about the ten lucky winners who turned crorepati, he revealed that the Punjab Government’s New Year Lohri Bumper-2019 draw had proved a magic wand for 30-year-old Ashok Kumar, serving as a constable in the Punjab Police, as he won the first prize of Rs 2 crore. The prize money changed the life of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Motian village in Hoshiarpur. He built a house and repaid his personal loans with the prize money. Dhruv Arora, resident of Amritsar, had won the second prize Rs. 1 crore of the Lohri Bumper. 

Punjab Holi Bumper filled colors in life of Himachal Pradesh’s Banker, Om Prakash Thakur, who had been buying tickets of Punjab State Lottery Bumpers for last 10 years. Om Prakash, serving as a manager in Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank at Dalan branch (Shimla), won the first prize of Rs. 3 crore of Holi Bumper-2019. He wanted to expand his apple orchard at his native village Malian of Hamirpur district. The Holi Bumper’s 2nd prize of Rs. 1 crore had gone to Vaishali Dhanajay Goswami resident of Maharashtra, the spokesperson added.

With the help of Punjab State Baisakhi Bumper 2019, a marginal farmer of Moga harvested the fortune. 34-years-old Parwinder Singh, a resident of Nathuwala Jadid village, had just a one acre land. He won the first prize of Rs 2 crore. The prize money has made his life easy and now Parwinder, father of two toddlers, has no worries about his children's education. Sanpreet Singh resident of Mahilpur (Hoshiarpur District) had won the 2nd prize of Rs. 1 crore of the bumper.

The spokesperson further said that Punjab Sawan Bumper had proved a booster shot for Kharar resident George Masih and his wife Suman Priya, who have been working as Senior Nursing Officers at the PGI, Chandigarh. George Masih had bought the bumper ticket on the insistence of his wife. Finally, lady luck smiled and the couple had won the first prize of Rs. 1.5 crore. The couple had decided to use the prize money to buy a good house nearby their working station. The second winner of the Punjab Sawan Bumper 2019 was a nonagenarian, Balwant Singh resident of Tohana (Haryana). Interestingly, 94-year-old Balwant Singh had won the prizes on all three tickets, he had bought from SAS Nagar (Mohali). He had won two prizes of Rs. 200 and Rs. 1.5 crore (first prize).

63-year-old Avtar Singh resident of Patiala had won the first prize of Rs. 1.5 crore of Punjab State Rakhi Bumper 2019. He bought the ticket after 15 years reluctantly as in past he had never won such a big prize. He has two sons and the hefty prize money would be a great help for him to get his sons settled in life and tide over many financial problems with the prize money. Harbhagwan Gir was the second lucky winner of the Rakhi Bumper-2019. Working as a Lab Attendant in Kendriya Vidyalaya 3 BRD Air Force Station Chandigarh, Harbhagwan won the first prize of Rs. 1.5 crore. Hailed from Bahadurpur Fakiran village in Patiala district, Harbhagwan was living in a rented house at Zirakpur. Father of two daughters and a son, Harbhagwan had lost his left arm in childhood. He wanted to buy a house in tri-city with the prize money which would also be a great help for him to get his children pursue higher studies and settled in life.
