Youth and Heritage Festival at PURC Ludhiana-Day 3
Ludhiana, October 20, 2014: The Youth and Heritage Festival Ludhiana Zone A, going on at Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana here, entered its third day and the day began with One Act Play, Skit and Poem Recitation. This day was dedicated to Dr Randhir Singh Chand.
Dr Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Chairperson, Punjab School Education Board, Mohali was the chief guest in the morning session. She said that inspite of having relatively small campus area and faculty the regional centre of Ludhiana is managing such a mega event where many competitions are conducted at 4 stages simultaneously and successfully. She appreciated the fact that in today’s times conducting the competitions like Phulkari or Bagh Dasuti, Pakhi designing, Crochet work, knitting, Mehndi designing and application, Embroidery and the likes keeps the spirit and tradition of Punjabi Virsa (Culture) alive and healthy. Further she said that one should not be afraid of the failures on stage but should learn from such challenges.
She along with Dr Nirmal Jaura, Dr Ravi Inder Singh, Dr Shiv Kumar Dogra and Dr Narinder Sidhu distributed the prizes of the yesterday’s winners. Dr Nirmal Jaura once again urged the students to dream and aspire for big things in life.
Amongst prominent dignitaries, eminent Television personality and Doordarshan News Anchor Raman Kumar graced the occasion. He was felicitated by the chief guest Dr Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal. Dr Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, DIG Jalandhar Range, who was the chief guest in the evening session appreciated the efforts of youth in carrying forwarding and preserving the culture of the land. Rentala Venkat Ratnam, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar also graced the occasion in the evening.
Giddha, Group Folk dance, Group Folk Orchestra and Folk Instruments are tomorrow’s major highlights.
