Day three of 67th annual session of IIChE witnessed a number of technical lectures

Chandigarh, December 30, 2014: The post lunch session of day three of 67th annual session of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) on Monday witnessed a number of technical lectures by distinguished personalities of the discipline.

The speakers were awarded with CHEMCON Distinguished Speaker Award by Prof. Hiroshi Yagi from Japan, who also chaired the session. The whole proceeding was taken care of by Chairman of National Organising Committee Prof G. D. Yadav and the Chairman of Local Organising Committee Prof. S. K. Sharma.

Prof S. S. Bhagwat, the Head of Department of Chemical Engineering at Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, dwelled on the topic of use of “Nano-structured aqueous solution as efficient reaction media for Process Intensification” which can bring about the synthesis of selected and specific products in a reaction with a great

ease. He was also honoured with CDS award.

DOST Professor S. K. Sharma medal and CDS award was awarded to Director and CEO of Blast Carboblocks Pvt. Ltd, Praveen K. Saxena. In his lecture,  Saxena enriched the audience with his part of industrial knowledge of use of “Green and Energy Efficient Graphite Equipments in Chemical Process Industry”. Hence he came up with alternatives to conventional equipment materials with more efficiency and doing minimal harm to environment. 

The other CHEMCON CDS awardees of the session and delegates of Indo-Japanese symposium also presented the outcomes of their experience along with that of their research work.

The Japanese delegates Dr. Hiroshi Yamamoto, Prof. Kazuho Nakamura, Prof M Kaminoyama and Mr. Hiroyuki Matsuda were honoured with CDS award. The panel from Japan comprised of their star researchers and renowned engineering pioneers from industry. Apart from them, Prof. S.B. Jonnalgadda from University of Kwo-Zula Natal of South Africa also delivered his CHEMCON distinguished lecture in the institute auditorium.

In a parallel progression, oral presentations of research papers by research scholars from various research institutes of the country were being adjudged. Secretary for CHEMCON 2014, Prof. V. K. Rattan was looking after whole proceeding. Poster sessions were also being observed on the day three of the mega techfest.
