Jalandhar, November 20, 2014: The Second Day of INSPIRE Programme being organised by Kanya Maha Vidyalaya commenced with an enlightening talk by Dr.Nand Kishore, FNA Sc, Professor of Chemistry, IIT, Bombay. 

Dr.Nand Kishore enumerated in a very lucid way  various reasons for Neuro-degenerative diseases/ disorders to the bright scholars attending the 5-day camp and elaborated on the role of Chemistry in their prevention through drug formation highlighting the thrust areas of research in Chemistry. 

Addressing the INSPIRE interns, the college Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi mapped the journey of human progression from ancient times to modern age in her talk, “The Human Story”.  She illustrated vividly, how Greek, Roman & Indus Valley Civilizations especially Harappan had been the peaks of human history contributing revolutionary  inventions, discoveries, political, social theories & systems enhancing intellectual capacity of modern man.  She placed the responsibility of carrying this procession of human progress and refinement of life further on the shoulders of today’s youth who have the potential to do wonders with the help of Science & Technology with their cultivated brain and heart spreading the message of “One World-One Human Race”.

Later, during the day, a workshop on Chemistry “Playing with Chemistry” was conducted by Dr. Updesh Kaur and Dr. Manju Sahni to acquaint the students with the working principles and environment requisite for experiments in the subject and various Chemical processes.  In the evening, the students were grouped for lab visits to various departments of Science stream who were amazed to visit the wonderful world of science and its marvellous possibilities.
