Ludhiana, September 24, 2016: The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) Punjab State today organized XXVI TNAI Biennial (75th) Punjab State Conference-2016 in Dumra Auditorium on the theme ‘Nurse: A force for change: Improving Health System’s Resilience. Ms. Surekha Sama, Vice President, TNAI was the honorable chief guest while Mrs. Surjit Gill, Registrar, PNRC, Mohali was the guest of honour. Secretary of DMCH Managing Society, Sh Prem Kumar Gupta presided over the function.
Programme started with a welcome song by B.Sc nursing students followed by welcome address by Dr (Mrs.) Jasbir Kaur, President, TNAI Punjab State. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Chairperson of Education Committee, TNAI Punjab introduced the chief guest to the audience. The function was inaugurated by the Chief Guest In presence of other dignitaries including Sh Gian Chand Dhawan (Vice President,DMCH Managing Society),Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Medical Supdt Dr Sandeep Sharma and Nursing Supdt. Mrs Meenakshi Periera. The theme of the conference was unfolded by Dr (Mrs) Rajinder Mahal, Treasurer, TNAI Punjab State. Mrs GK Walia, Secretary, TNAI Punjab State presented the Secretary report.
Scholarships were distributed to14 students by Mrs Sukhminder Kaur, SNA Advisor, TNAI Punjab State. Awards were given to the co-ordinators and the panelists.
In her inaugural address, the chief guest emphasized on the importance of nurses in health care delivery system and also stated that nurses should have expertise in communication, decision making, management and leadership skills. Dr Lalita Kumari, Vice President, TNAI Punjab State extended a vote of thanks. The scientific session included a Panel discussion by the nursing faculty of College Of Nursing, DMCH and a role play on the theme was also conducted. The panel discussion highlights the fact that the work of nurses contributes to the resilience of health care system as every decision they make in their profession can influence the efficiency and effectiveness of entire system.
