Ludhiana, June 9, 2016: Ola, India’s most popular mobile app for transportation, today announced thelaunch of auto-rickshaws on its platform in Ludhiana. Together with Ludhiana, Ola’s Auto service is now available in 4 cities in Punjab and 71 cities across the country. Using best-in-class technology, Ola aims to connect more cities and towns like Ludhiana for improving access to smart mobility in promising markets like these. Ola is by far the largest aggregator of auto-rickshaws in across the country. Ludhiana is the largest city in the state of Punjab and Autos are one of the most popular and economical ways to move around in Ludhiana; and with Autos now available on the Ola app, customers and tourists in the city can request an Auto at their doorstep within minutes.

Customers in Ludhiana will now be able to book auto-rickshaws straight from the ‘Auto’ category on the Ola app. With an assurance of traveling at metered-fares, customers stand to get a consistent experience on every ride. They can track their rides on the app and also share their ride details in real-time on a live map with friends and family. Additionally, they will also get a system-generated bill immediately on completion over SMS.

Ola provides ample opportunities to its driver-partners to earn and grow on the platform. Drivers across the country, have witnessed a reduction of at least 35% in their idle time, and 22% on fuel costs which was otherwise wasted over looking for potential customers. As much as 90% of rides for auto drivers, comes from the Ola app with an average increase of 40% in their overall income. Additionally, the Ola app for auto-drivers is available in 8 Indian languages including English, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu, making it extremely convenient and user friendly for local drivers to use. Every auto driver-partner on the Ola app goes through a KYC verification and training across behavioral, etiquette and technology to make the ride experience seamless for customers.

Ola Autos are available in Ludhiana at just Rs. 4 per kilometre with base fare of Rs. 20 along with a ride time charge of Rs. 2/minute. Night charges would be 1.25 times the normal fare.

Ola has over 120,000 auto rickshaws registered on its platform across 71 cities and plans to launch in more cities in the coming months.
