World AIDS Day observed at DMCH

Ludhiana, December 2, 2016: Department of Microbiology conducted a quiz competition and workshop for medical and paramedical staff. Dr Deepinder Chhina (Prof & Head of Microbiology) spoke elaborately on Needle stick injuries among health care workers in tertiary care hospitals, while dealing with HIV/AIDS patients. She also informed the audience about various preventive measures which are to be adopted to prevent needle stick injuries. Dean Academics- Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina presided over the function and addressed the audience on updates of HIV/AIDS . He lauded the role of Microbiology Department in creating awareness about HIV and AIDS. Four different teams participated in the quiz competition. Team of Ms. Manjot Kaur, Ms. Baljit Kaur, Mr. Varinder Singh and Ms. Hasanjit Kaur of Critical Care Surgery was the winners

Department of Community Medicine organized a poster Competition, in which students of MBBS Batch-2015 participated enthusiastically. Assistant Dean Academics Dr. Sandep Kaushal, Dr. Navjot Bajwa (Professor & Head of Biochemistry) and Dr Anurag Chaudhary (Professor & Head of Community Medicine) judged the posters displayed by students on different sub themes of HIV.

Shivam Kalra & Sanchi Baghla won 1st prize, Navreet Kaur & Nikhil Aggarwal won 2nd Prize & Dhruvika and Gurpreet Singh Sidhu won 3rd prize in the competition. They were awarded prizes and certificates

Dr. Sarit Sharma, Dr. Sangeeta Girdhar, Dr. Mahesh Satija, Dr. Pushapindra Kaushal, Dr. Vikram Kumar Gupta and Dr Priya Bansal coordinated all the events of the day.
