Participants during two days workshop on Yoga Classes on Stress Management that started on Thursday at Gandhi Bhawan, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh. 

Chandigarh, December 4, 2014: Two days workshop on Yoga Classes on Stress Management started today at Gandhi Bhawan, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh. The Department of Gandhian & Peace Studies is organising the event.

PU Registrar Col G.S.Chadha (Retd.) inaugurated the event today morning. He emphasised that such kind of workshops could help in strengthening the community as many stress related health and social problems are increasing these days. In fact in the ancient times, the concept of Vedas and Yoga were very much prevalent in overcoming all such problems, he added.

Further, Col Chadha highlighted the advantages of yoga and meditation for a healthy and better life.

In the workshop,  Gaurav Goyal, as outstanding expert in the field, dealt with the various Health Related issues. Exercises related for overcoming the stress along with some regular exercises related to routine problems were also explained on the occasion. He also emphasised the importance of the various forms of Meditation.

All the participants were welcomed by the Chairperson of the Department, Dr. Manish Sharma.

The workshop was attended by faculty members from various disciplines including Guldeep Singh, Dr. Rakesh Khullar (additional Chief Medical Officer, P.U.), Prof.Manvinder Kaur, Dr. Ameer Sultana and various non-teaching staff members from various departments and administrative block.

The workshop will continue on December 5, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM in the Gandhi Bhawan.

Earlier, two minutes silence was observed before the start of the workshop as a mark of respect to the Armed Forces personnel.
