PAU invites applications for innovative farmer awards 2015

Ludhiana, November 28, 2014: The Directorate of Extension Education of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has invited applications from the Punjab farmers for the “Innovative Farmer Awards 2015.” The awards will be presented to the progressive and outstanding farmers, for their excellence in agriculture, horticulture and allied activities, during PAU Kisan Mela in March 2015.

Divulging details, Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education said that the “Chief Minister Award in Agriculture,” carrying a cash prize of Rs 25,000 alongwith a plaque and citation, will be bestowed on a self-cultivating farmer of field crops in Punjab. The “Chief Minister Award in Horticulture,” carrying a cash prize of Rs 25,000 alongwith a plaque and citation, will be conferred on a self-cultivating farmer of horticultural crops in the state, he said.

Further, Dr Sidhu said that three “CRI Pumps Awards” will be awarded to self-cultivating farmers for adopting improved water management technologies, farm mechanization in agriculture and organic farming. All the awards carry a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each alongwith a plaque and citation.

Dr Sidhu said that the application forms for the awards can be obtained from the Deputy Directors (Training) of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, District Extension Specialists (Senior Most), Farm Advisory Service Scheme, Chief Agriculture Officers, Deputy Directors of Horticulture in different districts of the state and PAU Directorate of Extension Education. For each award, a separate application will be accepted, he said, while informing that the last date for the receipt of the application in the office of PAU Director of Extension Education is December 31, 2014. The interested farmers of the state should apply for the “Innovative Farmer Awards 2015” in time, he said.
