Workshop under ‘Student Connect’ programme of MEA, GoI, held at PAU
Ludhiana, November 21, 2019: A workshop under ‘Student Connect’ programme of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, was organized by University Counselling and Placement Guidance Cell at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. Under the auspices of Regional Passport Office, Chandigarh, Mr Gurinder Singh from Passport Seva Kendra, Ludhiana interacted with the students. He disclosed that the passport form has been so simplified that even a school going student can now fill the form within few minutes. The Ministry of External Affairs has decided to bring the benefits of this transformational programme to the students of Indian universities and colleges, representing youth of India having high aspirations. He called upon the students to beware of fake websites and portals and always look for https, MEA and use the Apps developed by MEA only. “Passport Seva Project (PSP) is the largest e-Governance initiative by the Ministry. About 89 Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) have been opened across India and over 50,000 citizens are being serviced from these Kendras daily,” he added. Dr RK Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, while addressing the students, stated that passport is an essential travel document and is also recognized as one of the most potent and widely accepted identity and address proof documents. Dr Sarabjeet Singh, Director, Placement Cell, PAU, said this was a good opportunity to empower and enable university students towards global learning and promising careers ahead. Mr Gurmeet and Mr Sanjay, senior officials from PSK, Ludhiana also addressed the queries of the students.
