Ludhiana, February 22, 2019: Punjab is at the forefront of developing PPP projects in the country. Ludhiana is the largest city in the state and is one of the largest industrial hubs in North India and there is a need for a dedicated exhibition centre in the city. Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) and Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) have initiated an exercise to develop a large exhibition centre on a 7.05 acre piece of land in sector 39A on the Chandigarh Road (opposite Vardhman Mill) through Public - Private Partnership.

Similarly, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) and Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) have initiated an exercise to develop a large club cum recreation centre on a 2.97 acre piece of land in sector 39A on the Chandigarh Road (opposite Vardhman Mill) through Public - Private Partnership.

In line with the above, public hearings regarding both the projects were organised by Punjab Infrastructure Regulatory Authority (PIRA) at Circuit House, here today.

The hearings took place under the Chairmanship of Mr. Jitender Bir Singh, Chairman, PIRA. The meeting was attended by Mr. Manmohan Singh, Member - PIRA, Mr. Parminder Singh Gill, Chief Administrator – GLADA, Mr. Yashanjit Singh, Additional Managing Director – PIDB, other officials of PIDB and GLADA, representatives of Feedback Infra (Transaction Advisors for the project) and local citizens, private developers, etc.

Various points were discussed including Current and Projected demand for exhibitions in the city, Viability of the project, rationale for undertaking the project under PPP, Minimum development obligations, Estimated project cost and transaction structure. All the queries were suitably addressed by officials of GLADA, PIDB and Feedback Infra. For the construction of club cum recreation centre, various points were discussed including the need for the facility, development components, Estimated project cost, viability of the project, pricing of memberships, rationale for undertaking the project under PPP, and transaction structure.
