MEETING OF PRINCIPALS OF GOVT SCHOOLS OF LUDHIANA (WEST) CONSTITUENCY HELD TODAY

Ludhiana, February 18, 2019: The Punjab government has decided to construct smart class rooms in all 137 government schools of Ludhiana city and funds amounting to Rs 6.28 crore have already been allotted to the Education department for this purpose. A meeting with the Principals of government schools falling in Ludhiana West constituency was held today.

The meeting was held in the office of Cabinet Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu and was chaired by Councillor Mrs Mamta Ashu and was attended by the councillors of Ludhiana West constituency. Prominent among those present in the meeting included Councillors Mr Sunny Bhalla, Mr Maharaj Singh Raji, Mr Baljinder Singh Bunty, Gurpreet Singh Gogi, Mr Pankaj Kaka Sood, Mr Dilraj Singh, Mr Hari Singh Brar, Mrs Poonam Malhotra, Mrs Seema Kapoor, Senior Congress leader Mr Sunil Kapoor, besides several others.

During the meeting, Mrs Mamta Ashu informed that these smart classrooms would be developed under the Ludhiana Smart City Mission and the Ludhiana Smart City Ltd has already transferred the funds to Department of School Education, Punjab. She said that there are a total of 137 schools in Ludhiana city (within municipal limits). As per the proposed plan, three smart classrooms would be developed in each Government Primary School, five in each Government High School and seven in each Government Senior Secondary School.

The Councillors urged the school principals to ensure that the public funds are utilised in their schools properly so that the standard of education in government schools is uplifted.

She also urged the NGO’s and corporate houses to come forward and adopt the government schools so that our education sector gets strengthened. She further said that there is a huge potential in Ludhiana city as corporate houses can contribute large amounts for this cause under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity.
