Visiting Canadian delegation from Thompson Rivers University (British Columbia) with Punjab Minister Sardar SS Maluka, Panjab Unviersity Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover and other officers of PU at PU on Monday. The four member Canadian delegation was led by Associate Vice President International and Chief Executive Officer TRU World Global Operations of Thompson Rivers University.

Chandigarh, December 7, 2015: Thompson Rivers University (TRU), British Columbia (Canada) has evinced interest to have collaboration with Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.
Four member TRU Delegation led by Associate Vice President International and Chief Executive Officer TRU World Global Operations of Thompson Rivers University, (Canada) Ms.Baihua Chadwick today visited PU and met PU Vice Chancellor, Prof Arun Kumar Grover, Deans and officers of PU. Punjab Minister SS Maluka was also present at the meeting. 
In the meeting, the visiting Canadian delegation and PU explored the areas of collaboration between the two leading public universities of India and Canada in the field of tourism and hotel industry. The two sides agreed to explore the possibilities of having joint degrees for the students of hotel industry. 
At the conclusion of meeting between the two sides, Ms. Baihua Chadwick expressed her pleasure with the outcome of the meeting. She said that both the sides have huge interest in promoting collaboration between industry and educational sector. We agreed to explore the possibilities of collaboration between the two universities and industrial partner. 
We are yet to take decision but we have discussed two or three possible models of cooperation between the two universities, she added. “One model is that our industry partner will come here with guaranteed employment offer to students enrolled in the joint educational programme, which would be offered by both TRU and PU, particularly in tours, hotel and resort management area”, she elaborated. The particular area of interest for us is collaboration between Indian & Canadian education sector with industry, she further added. 
Ms. Baihua Chadwick described the PU campus as massive and beautiful. “We just arrived here today, the first impression is its immense size and also its beauty & greenery.
It’s really beautiful”, she further added.
PU fellows and deans namely Prof Ronki Ram, Prof Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Prof Anil Monga, Director Research Prof OP Katare, Associate Director Prof Ramanjit Kaur Johal, Dean International Students Prof Deepti Gupta, Dean Pharmaceutical Sciences Prof Kanwaljit Chopra and Director Public Relations Ms. Vineet Punia were also present on the occasion. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
