Ludhiana, March 31, 2017: A one-day farmer training camp on “Vermi-compost Preparation and Rat Control” was jointly organized by the Departments of Zoology and Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), in the village Dhatt of district Ludhiana. About 35 trainees participated in this training camp, held under the guidance of Dr S.S.Hundal, Head, Department of Zoology and Dr Neena Singla, Project Incharge, VPM.
Dr Rajwinder Singh, Assistant Zoologist, explained the farmers about different species of rats and their control measures in wheat crop.
Dr Lavleesh Garg, an extension specialist, highlighted the importance of rat control and vermi-compost.
Ms Navneet Kaur, Research Fellow, Department of Zoology, apprised the farmers of vermi-compost preparation method and its application techniques.
Dr J.S. Bhalla, Head, Department of Extension Education and Dr S.S. Hundal, Head, Department of Zoology, advised the farmers to buy quality seeds from PAU. During the camp, a demonstration on preparation of poison bait for rat control was also given.
