Hyderabad, December 13, 2015: Straightening teeth devices have come of the age. They have gone high-tech and become invisible now say Orthodontics, the teeth straightening dental specialists who are assembled in city for their three days Golden Jubilee National Conference.

From not so well looking metallic brackets, dentistry has evolved to a level of invisible orthodontic appliances to achieve the desired esthetics, function and longevity of permanent teeth. This has become possible by using clear transparent braces, ceramic braces, lingual braces using gold/titanium retainers. This gives people a choice to choose from a variety of treatment options where the esthetics will not be compromised at all.

Our face is our identity.  And teeth make an important part of our face. Besides giving a beautiful smile, which adds a new dimension to our personality, this smile  can be ruined if teeth are placed abnormally. The technical term to describe this abnormal alignment of teeth is "Malocclusion". The specialists who treat these irregularities best are known as orthodontist.

If these Crooked Teeth and Misaligned Bites are not adjusted they will interfere with proper chewing. This will make teeth cleaning more of a challenge, increasing the risk of tooth decay, cavities, and gingivitis. This will also strain the teeth, jaws, and muscles, increasing the risk of breaking a tooth. Another big problem with this crooked teeth is that it makes people feel self-conscious about their appearance and affect their self-esteem.

So comes Orthodontistry, the teeth straightenig treatment.

Orthodentistry is one of the oldest specialty in dentistry.  This specialty deals primarily with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of mal positioned teeth and the jaws by means of braces.  In layman language branch of dentistry concerned with preventing or correcting irregularities of the teeth which is also called dental orthopaedics.

These braces are devices used in orthodontics that align and straighten teeth and help to position them with regard to a person's bite.  They are a must to improve dental health to prevent underbites, overbites, open bites, deep bites, cross bites etc

This problem of crooked or crowded teeth, overbites and underbites problem may result in tooth decay, gum disease, headaches and earaches, as well as speaking, biting or chewing problems. But, again these are difficult to clean and more expensive and are not suitable for severe cases.  And regular adjustment also becomes little difficult.

As a result Invisalign braces are introduced which consists of a series of 18 to 30 custom-made mouth guard like clear plastic aligners.  These can be removable and replaced every fortnight.  These are almost invisible. Patients can eat and drink whatever they want.  But, again these cannot work with serious dental problems and are available for adults and teens. Not available for children. But, again they are expensive too.

So braces have been effective cure for the problem for many years.

Today's orthodontics offer more kinds of braces than ever before. Conventionally metal or traditional braces which are noticeable by people are replaced by more modern braces.

Now according the Orthodonics, the trend is Ceramic braces, which are as of same size and shape as metal braces, expect that they are tooth coloured which blend in teeth  so that they are less noticeable.

Now another trend is Lingual Braces.  Though these are same as traditional braces, but brackets and wires are placed on the inside of teeth.  So that they are invisible from outside.

Truly the teeth straightening treatment has come up the age.
