CM directs for exploring possibilities for starting steamers on Kol Dam

Shimla, December 30, 2015: Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has earned revenue of more than Rs.6400 lakh and incurred an expenditure of Rs.5618 lakh during this financial year up to November, 2015. 
Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh disclosed this while presiding over the meeting of Board of Directors of HPTDC, here today. He said emphasis would be given on taking new initiatives to make the corporation more profitable organization.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that the Corporation earned an operational profit of Rs. 781.71 lakh and net profit comes to Rs. 627.79 lakh after providing depreciation to the tune of Rs. 153.92 lakh.  He said that the turnover of the Corporation had increased by 0.67 percent whereas expenses had decreased by 4.81 percent.   
 He said that possibilities would be explored to start steamers on Kol Dam to attract more tourists in the area. He said that efforts had been made for the restoration of hot water springs at Tatta-pani in Mandi district and as per the reports a piece of land above the buffer Zone of Kol Dam was available near Narsingh Temple belonging to temple committee where hot water was available. He directed the officers to pursue the matter with the committee.
Shri Virbhadra Singh also directed the officers to update records of the property of Corporation.
 It was decided to re-tender the process for purchase of Gen Set for Himachal Bhawan, Chandigarh.  It was also decided to constitute a committee to review incentive and reward scheme for the employees of the Corporation.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri V.C. Pharka said various innovative steps were being taken to strengthen the financial position of the Corporation besides expanding the services in a better way.
Managing Director Shri Mohan Chauhan detailed out the various activities being undertaken by the Corporation.
Vice Chairman HPTDC Shri Harish Janartha, Chief Secretary Shri P, Mittra, Members of BOD of HPTDC, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi and other senior officers of the Corporation were also present in the meeting.
