Sodhi successfully accomplishes 600-Kms-long Cycle Rally from New Delhi-Doraha-New Delhi

Ferozepur, October 12, 2016: In a major achievement for this border town Ferozepur in general and Paddlers Club, Ferozepur particularly, local resident Sohan Singh Sodhi (53) successfully accomplished 600 kilometers long ‘Cycle Rally’ from New Delhi-Doraha-New Delhi in 33 hours and become the first Super Randonneurof this town.
It may here be said that in randonneuring ( a cycling sport), riders attempt courses of 200 Kms (400 Kms, 600kms, 800kms, 1,000 kms or 1200kms ) passing through predetermined controls and aim to complete the course within a stipulated time and all participants receive equal recognition regardless of their finishing order.
“India has put forth its foot in randonneuring events. These are conducted under the aegis of Audax Club, Parisian and are now done across India with 15 clubs doing brevets frequently every year,” revealed President, Paddlers Club, Ferozepur, (PCF).
“Brevets begun in India in the year 2010 and 200, 300, 400, 600, 1000 & 1200 kilometers events are conducted regularly as per the global calendar,” added Amarjit Singh Bhogal, general secretary PCF.
Meanwhile, Sohan Singh Sodhi, Vice President of Paddlers club, Ferozepur along with other 29 cyclists from various parts of nation participated in this Cycling Rally and reached here on Tuesday.
In the meantime, on the major achievement, Sodhi was honoured by fellow members of PCF including Ashok Behal, Manjit Singh, Shalinder Bhalla, and Manoj Soi and others. They congratulated Sodhi for the gala success.
Sodhi, attributed is the success only possible due to his family and fellow cyclists.
