Prof Rajinder Bhandari Lauds CM For Landmark Initiative In Solar Energy

Chandigarh, May 18, 2016: Prof Rajinder Bhandari, Vice Chairman, Punjab State Planning Board has lauded S.Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister Punjab for inaugurating the World’s biggest Roof top Solar Energy plant at Dera Baba Jaimal Singh at Beas. In a press communiqué released here Prof.Bhandari has termed it as a landmark in saving environment by generating alternative energy.
Prof. Bhandari also congratulated the New and Renewable Energy Minister S. Bikram Singh Majithia and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for signing a power purchase agreement with the Dera for 25 years. He said that he is hopeful about other states of the country also emulating this step and work on similar alternate energy projects to help save the degrading environment in order to maintain ecological balance.
He said that it will usher in a new era in the generation of environment friendly clean and green energy. He stated that this prestigious Solar power plant, which is spread in 82 acres, with solar panels on 8 roof tops of sheds, has a capacity to generate 19.5 MW of electricity. Also 27 million units of electricity will be generated per year by the plant which will be enough to cater to the energy needs of 8000 urban houses.
Prof. Bhandari lauded the role of Radha Soami Satsang Beas Educational and Environmental Society in taking the initiative in setting up this state of the art project at the cost of 139 crore.
