Review meeting to ensure smooth & timely procurement of paddy crop held

Ludhiana, October 1, 2019: To ensure hassle-free, smooth and timely procurement of paddy crop, a review meeting in this regard was held at Bachat Bhawan, here today. This meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal and was attended by all SDM's as well as other senior officials of district administration. This meeting was also attended by office bearers of district commission agents association, farmers etc. While addressing the meeting, Agrawal directed the officials to ensure hassle-free, smooth and timely procurement of paddy crop, that is expected to arrive in mandis in next few days. He said that the district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the paddy procurement so that the farmers do not face any problem. He said that to ensure conduct of smooth procurement, Grievances Redressal Committees, comprising representatives of the concerned agency, Mandi Board, Commission Agents and farmers in each Mandi have also been formed. He also assured that the paddy crop arriving in the mandis would be procured and lifted within the time fixed by the government, followed by timely payment. He also directed the officials to ensure ample storage space for storing the crop. Agrawal asked the officials to complete all required tendering processes at the earliest and nothing should be left for the last hour. The office bearers of district commission agents association also raised some issues related to the wheat procurement and the Deputy Commissioner assured them of timely action. Prominent among those who attended today’s meeting included ADC (General) Iqbal Singh Sandhu, ADC (Khanna) Jaspal Singh Gill, besides several others.
