With the sincere efforts of the district administration to enroll every eligible voter in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, it has added 37126 new voters since Jan 22, 2024 to May 4, 2024.

Ludhiana, May 15, 2024: With the sincere efforts of the district administration to enroll every eligible voter in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, it has added 37126 new voters since Jan 22, 2024 to May 4, 2024.

Now, the Ludhiana district has 2694622 voters as per final voter list released by the administration on May 14. It had 2657496 voters on January 22, 2024.

District Election Officer (DEO) Sakshi Sawhney stated that there is a net increase of 37126 electors. She said that on January 22, 2024, the district had a total of 1417816 males, 1239534 females and 146 third genders and now (May 14), it has 1435624 males, 1258847 females and 151 third genders. 

Similarly on January 22, 2024 , the district had 47749 young voters and now it has 58801 young voters. There were 15706 PWD electors on January 22, 2024 in the district and now it has 16973 voters. 

DEO Sakshi Sawhney said that several activities were carried out to raise awareness among prospective voters through vans, rallies, seminars; competitions were held in the district under SVEEP campaign. She said that this increase was a step in strengthening the democratic process so that no eligible Voter was left behind. She said that under the SVEEP campaign, maximum efforts were being made to motivate the voters to exercise their franchise to strengthen democracy at the grass-root level on June 1.

Sawhney said that democracy could be successful only if only all stakeholders especially the young voters participate in the poll process with full zeal and enthusiasm. She said that the aim of the district administration was to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).
