Chandigarh, July 23, 2019: Research team led by Prof.Indu Pal Kaur, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) won BRIC Idea Exposition contest on ‘Innovations in Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics’ held at Chitkara University, Panjab as a winning Idea and a stipend amount of Rs.50,000 given to the presenting researcher Joga Singh from UIPS. Event was jointly organised by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) regional innovation centre (BRIC) and Innovation Knowledge Progress (IKP) Knowledge Park, Hyderabad. Winning team also consisted of Dr. Gurpal Singh (UGC-Assistant Professor at UIPS), Dr.Ravi Pratap Barnwal (UGC-Assistant professor at Department of Biophysics, Panjab University) and Dr. Mandeep Singh again from UIPS. Research team has highlighted the concept of simultaneous treatment and real time monitoring of tumour decay in breast cancer. They have come up with a platform technology DLEN where anticancer molecules encapsulated in a tumour targeted nanolipid core are combined with imaging quantum dots. Team pitched for their novel scientific finding which will be a more effective and less toxic substitute for the conventional breast cancer chemotherapy. The IKP will mentor the team and the Idea for future funding and help bring the product to the market in next 1-2 years.
