REC takes initiative to treasure its rich heritage

Ludhiana, April 9, 2015: Ramgarhia Educational Council organised Antar-Rashtri Ramgarhia Virasat Sambhaal Divas (International Ramgarhia Heritage Conservation Day) to treasure the rich heritage of Ramgarhia community. The community is named after Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, a leader possessing unprecedented qualities, who contributed immensely in protecting the Sikh race during turbulent times. 
Lachhman Singh Bhamra, P.R.O. Ramgarhia Council, U.K., presided over the event as Chief Guest. The members of REC accorded him a hearty welcome. Ranjodh Singh, President, REC, and Dr Narinder Sandhu, Principal, Ramgarhia Girls College, extended a warm welcome to the other dignitaries present on the occasion. 
Jagtar Singh, General Secretary, REC, hosted the event. While addressing the gathering, Dr Narinder Sandhu averred that she takes pride in being associated with a council that is dedicated to the cause of girls’ education and added that the institutions being run under their tutelage endeavour to provide students with quality education. 
Ranjodh Singh said that Ramgarhia race is blessed with a rich heritage and stressed on the need of conserving the same. While apprising the assemblage of the event, he said that the council has made an effort to bring the luminaries belonging to the community under one roof and deliberate upon the steps that can be taken to keep the Ramgarhia culture and heritage alive and thriving. A number of affluent personalities delivered talks on the occasion and many were honoured by the council. 
Dr. Shaminder Singh Marway (Ex. President, Ramgarhia Sabha, South Hall, U.K.) observed that the people belonging to the community have made their presence felt not only at the national level but also across the globe and added their achievements testify the valour and zeal that are bestowed upon the descendents of Jassa Singh Ramgarhia. Gurminder Singh Matharu, Member, S.G.P.C. and President, All India Ramgarhia Vishavkarma Federation, New Delhi, appreciated the event organised by REC and said that the Ramgarhia Community will curtail expenses on weddings and social functions and donate liberally for education and healthcare. Principal Mata Ram Dhiman, Chandigarh, also shared his views with the guests and observed that the members of REC are steeped in their culture and make consistent endeavors to fortify the same. The Chief Guest also lauded the initiative taken by REC and said that such events should be organised at regular intervals so that a feeling of brotherhood can be instilled in the people of the community. 
Mohan Singh Manku (U.K.), Surinder Singh Jabbal (Canada) and Balbir Singh Nanra (Landon) and his wife also shared their views on the occasion. All the speakers appreciated REC for its idea of bringing them together and also proposed to extend financial assistance to the council for its various ventures. 
Jagtar Singh observed that people belonging to the Ramgarhia race have remarkable achievements to their credit and said that Almighty has blessed them in every sense of the word. He thanked the dignitaries who marked their presence on the occasion and shared their valuable views with the gathering. He added that their healthy participation has made the event a success and the council looks upto them for their support in its future endeavors. 
The other guests who attended the event were Balwinder Singh Sokhi (U.K.) and his wife, Balbir Singh Chana (Canada) and his wife, Harjinder Singh Jutla (U.K.), Santokh Singh Bharya, (U.K.), Jasvir Singh Manku (U.K.), Kulwant Singh Bhamrah (U.K.), Kehar Singh Matharu (Canada) and Ranjit Singh Ghatauray (U.K.), Ranjit Singh (U.K.).
