Chandigarh, December 1, 2019: The Punjab Government has launched a special campaign from 1st December to 31st December to give unique identity card (UDID) to the persons with disabilities.
Giving detailed information of the campaign, the Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Mrs. Aruna Chauhdary said that the purpose of this campaign is to create a database at the state and district level of the persons with disabilities so they can avail all the facilities without any hardship. She said that with this card, every physically challenged person would be able to get all the facilities on one hand and on the other hand he could be mainstreamed at the village, block, district, state and national level.
The Minister said that under this compaign the UDID (Unique ID for Persons with Disabilities) unique identity cards are to be provided to persons with disabilities. For this www.swaviambancard.gov.in Portal has been created. physically challenged persons can register themselves at their personal computer, nearest cybercafe, village suvidha center, seva center, health center, social security office, in the camps of administration.
Mrs Chaudhary said that persons with disabilities having off line certificate issued by the health department can get this unique identity card. She said that anyone wishing to get a new disabilty Certificate should contact the nearest Senior Medical Officer / District Civil Surgeon.
Mrs Chaudhary said that the Punjab government was committed for the welfare of the persons with disabilities and they should take benefit from the schemes of the government.
