Ludhiana, February 27, 2019: Department of Pediatrics, DMCH organized a two-days Foundation Oncology skills workshop for nurses working in pediatric oncology. It allowed the nurses to receive both theoretical and practical knowledge of various stages of management of pediatric oncology patients. Princpal Dr Sandeep Puri stated that the nurses are not only the backbone of the hospital but pretty much all the bones of the hospital as they are the ones that spend the most time with the patients. He further went on to state that nurses are a privilege to the hospital especially nurses who are willing to learn and constantly improve upon their skills.

Dr. Shruti Kakkar (Incharge pediatric hematology oncology DMCH) said that nurses working in pediatric oncology have days that are anything but easy. They need to have knowledge about the diagnosis, the treatment, side effects and complication of therapy and need to be highly skilled in delivering chemotherapy, and the fact that the department has been blessed with hard working and compassionate nurses is a blessing.
