Patriotism in heartbeat of Ludhiana’s Aggarwal Family
Ludhiana, July 5, 2018: People love their country because of patriotism. Presently, there is much talk about patriotism. Many show off their patriotism. However, there are many who never propagate their inner spirit of patriotism. And, these patriotic people do a lot for their Nation without indulging into any kind of propaganda. The owners of M/S Nav Bharat Radio Electric Company, Mata Rani Road, Ludhiana, are the glaring example of patriotism. They strongly believed in working for the Nation besides doing routine business to earn livelihood for themselves and their families. They always remain ready to help the Nation at the time of any Emergency. Perhaps, people will be unaware of the fact that M/S Nav Bharat Radio Electric Company, Mata Rani Road, Ludhiana (previously known as M/S Nav Bharat Radio, Meena Bazaar, Ludhiana) had rendered its facilities at “no cost basis” to Defence during the Indo-Pak Wars that took place in 1965 and 1971. The then M/S Nav Bharat Radio, Meena Bazaar, Ludhiana (now, M/S Nav Bharat Radio Electric Company, Mata Rani Road, Ludhiana) was honoured for rendering its facilities at no cost basis to Defence in 1965 and 1971. The then Officer Commanding Major KV Kudva on October 20, 1965, issued a written document to the firm mentioning “Over the last one month, we have had occasions when we had to approach you for necessary spares and local manufacture of certain essential items. Always we have had the best cooperation from you and you have been extremely kind in affording all assistance. We are particularly grateful to you for your noble gesture to the Defence cause, in providing us the facilities at no cost basis. We very much appreciate your generosity and ready co-operation in whatever you have done so far. We hasten to extend our most sincere thanks to you for rendering us all the help”. “We were also honoured with a similar written document after Indo-Pak War held in 1971 by the Defence authorities. However, we are unable to trace this document now. Perhaps this is our bad luck”, said Mohinder Aggarwal, Managing Partner of M/S Nav Bharat Radio Electric Company, Mata Rani Road, Ludhiana while speaking to ‘City Air News’. It may be mentioned here that Mohinder Aggarwal’s father Hari Chand Aggarwal had been taking care of all the business affairs in the firm. After Hari Chand Aggarwal’s death on January 25, 1997, his three sons Narinder Aggarwal (M/S Nav Bharat Enterprises, Delhi), Mohinder Aggarwal and Surinder Aggarwal (Managing Partners, M/S Nav Bharat Radio Electric Company, Mata Rani Road, Ludhiana) took over the business. “I and my brothers have inherited the spirit of patriotism from our late father”, said Mohinder Aggarwal’, adding, “I and my brothers strongly believe that when the brave Soldiers of Indian Army fight for their Motherland and the countrymen as well then every countryman must have the spirit to work for his Motherland too. However, members of the Aggarwal Family never propagated their spirit of patriotism either publically or in the media over the decades. They even never attempted to display the “document” issued to them by the then Officer Commanding Major KV Kudva on the walls of their shop for cheap publicity. Recently, when `City Air News’ contacted Mohinder Aggarwal for seeking his opinion on some issue the fact came to the light. It may be mentioned here that Mohinder Aggarwal is also state secretary of Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal. Mohinder Aggarwal showed the “document” to `City Air News’, the document was laminated. “We have to get the document laminated as it was getting destroyed with the passage of time”, he said. Mohinder Aggarwal’ told that his father had also worked during the freedom struggle of the Nation and gone to jail twice. He said his late father had observed hunger strike in jail with other freedom fighters. However, his father never made any effort to get freedom fighters certificate from the government, he said. “Once I find some documents including photographs and clippings of an Urdu daily carrying news-item about the freedom struggle of my father”, said Mohinder Aggarwal. When he asked his father to get freedom fighters certificate from the government his father did not like his suggestion, revealed Mohinder Aggarwal. Later, he learnt that his father had destroyed all these documents because he never wanted to encash for the struggle he had done during freedom movement of the Nation, said Aggarwal.
