NATIONAL INTEGRATION WEEK STARTS IN LUDHIANA DISTRICT

Ludhiana, November 19, 2018: To foster and reinforce the strength of communal harmony and National Integration, National Integration Week celebrations have been started in Ludhiana district from today onwards. This week would be celebrated in Ludhiana district from November 19-25, 2018.

A district-level function regarding the National Integration Week was organised at Bachat Bhawan, here today, and it was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu. This function was also attended by Assistant Commissioner (General) Mr Amrinder Singh Malhi, Divisional Forest Officer Mr Charanjit Singh, Deputy Director Horticulture Mr Jagdev Singh, District Public Relations Officer Mr Prabhdeep Singh Nathowal, Tehsildar Ludhiana (West) Mr Ajitpal Singh, District Sports Officer Mr Ravinder Singh, besides several others.

While speaking during the function, Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu said that this week is being celebrated to foster and reinforce the strength of communal harmony and national integration. The week-long celebrations offer a new opportunity to all to reaffirm the old traditions, culture and faiths in worth of tolerance and brotherhood amongst multi-religious and multi-cultural societies of our country. It also assists in highlighting the inherent strength and flexibility of the country to maintain the communal harmony.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) informed that November 19 would be celebrated as National Integration Day, November 20 as Welfare of Minorities Day, November 21 as Linguistic Harmony Day, November 22 as Weaker Sections Day, November 23 as Cultural Unity Day, November 24 as Women’s Day and November 25 as Conservation Day. He directed officials of all departments to complete necessary arrangements regarding this week-long celebration at the earliest.
