VIGILANCE NABS BDPO RED HANDED FOR TAKING BRIBE Rs.10,000
Chandigarh, November 15, 2018: State Vigilance Bureau (VB) nabbed a Block Development & Panchayat Officer (BDPO) posted at Lohian, Jalandhar district red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.10,000. Disclosing this a spokesman of VB Punjab said Gurmeet Singh Kahlon, BDPO was caught red handed on the complaint of Manmohan Singh, Panchayat Secretary (retd.) resident of village Nawan Pind Khalewal, Jalandhar. Giving details he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said BDPO was demanding bribe of Rs.30,000/- to release a usage certificate (UC) regarding development grant issued to the gram panchayat Nihaluwal and the deal was struck in three installments. After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused BDPO was caught red handed and Rs.10000 of first installment recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
