Nauni University to celebrate 35th Foundation Day on Dec 1
Nauni (Himachal Pradesh), November 28, 2019: Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni will be celebrating its 35th Foundation on 1st December. University Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Kaushal informed that Agriculture, Tribal Development and IT Minister Dr Ram Lal Markanda will preside over the function while Forest, Transport, Youth Services and Sports Minister Shri Gobind Singh Thakur will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr Kaushal said that besides several former Vice-Chancellors of the University, retired faculty and staff are also expected to attend the event. This year the university will also be honouring its alumni, who have been highly successful in their respective fields and are presently occupying high positions in the government and private sectors. These alumni will be honoured as ‘Brand Ambassadors’ of the university. Progressive farmers, Agri entrepreneurs, scientists, staff and students will also be awarded during the Foundation Day function. The various achievements of the university in the past year will be highlighted at the event. The University was established on 1st December 1985 to promote education, research and extension education in the fields of Horticulture, Forestry and allied disciplines. Though formally established in 1985, the university has its roots in the College of Agriculture, Solan, which started functioning in 1962. Since inception, the university has had a long history of excellence in education, research and extension. The combined efforts of its scientists, staff and students have brought great laurels to Himachal Pradesh in Horticulture and Forestry.
